Avalanche Danger Scale
There was a problem loading the danger rose
Avalanche Danger
The avalanche danger for the Vail-Summit zone will rise to MODERATE (Level 2) by this afternoon as the upper snowpack warms up. On west and south slopes below treeline the danger is LOW (Level 1) as things have mostly melted out.
Weather Discusion
High-pressure continues to build over the region, and warm air is funneling into the state on southwesterly flow. Temperatures will warm up quickly today, and daytime highs will climb to the upper 40s and low 50s. Some moisture from the Gulf of Mexico is streaming north and east and clipping the southeastern part of Colorado but is mostly heading south of our mountains. There's a chance that some of this moisture reaches into the San Juan Mountains and generates some periodic and widely scattered light snowfall for the next couple days. Otherwise expect warm temperatures and mostly sunny skies. This same weather pattern will persist through Tuesday with gradually increasing temperatures.
